Share a client in one of two places. Use Shared Client Manager when you are not in a Workspace. Use Clients under your Workspace when you are.
For what a team role and a shared-client permission each allow, see Understanding roles and permissions in a shared workspace.
Find your Advisor ID
Another advisor needs this ID when you are not in a Workspace.
Open the account menu and select Advisor Settings.
Open Advisor Profile.
Copy the field labelled ID. It is read-only.
Share outside a Workspace
Shared Client Manager is under Advisor Settings, when shown, for an advisor who is not in a Workspace.
Open the account menu and select Advisor Settings → Shared Client Manager.
Select Invite Advisor To Share.
Under Share by email address and user ID, enter the other advisor's email and Advisor ID.
Set Permissions to Read-Only, Write, or Edit (Write + Delete Client).
Select Share.
When shown, Choose Client(s) To Share lets you share several clients, and several people, in one action.
Share inside a Workspace
Open the account menu and select your firm name. The subtitle is Workspace.
Open Clients.
Use the edit control. A new share is titled Share Client. An existing one opens as Edit Shared Client.
Under Share With, pick a person, a team, or both. When shown, you can pick several at once.
Workspace sharing does not ask for an email, an Advisor ID, or Read-Only / Write / Edit. Access follows the Workspace role of the person receiving the share. Members other than Workspace admins can share when that option is shown.
If a member is removed, shares where that person was the receiver are removed, including that person's automatic team shares. Clients they own stay in place.
See what changed
Open the client and select Client Data Log. The columns are Activity Detail and Date. Anyone with at least read-only access to that client can open it, including someone the client was shared with. It is hidden on Foundations.
