How to model major expenses & one-time outflows

Add and manage major expenses from Assumptions or Planning Inputs on one scenario.

Assumptions → Major Expenses and the Major Expense toggle under Planning Inputs manage the same expense records on the selected scenario.

Manage the expense under Assumptions

  1. Open Financial Insights and confirm Current Scenario.

  2. Open Assumptions, then Major Expenses.

  3. Select Add a New Expense.

  4. Enter the name, expense type, and annual amount.

  5. For a recurring expense, enter an end year or choose one of the ending options shown.

Changes on the Major Expenses tab save as you make them. Its on/off, edit, and delete controls apply immediately; there is no separate Save or Cancel bar.

Use the Major Expense toggle

  1. Open Planning Inputs.

  2. Select Add Toggle / Strategy, then New Toggle.

  3. Choose Income/Expenses, then Major Expense.

  4. Enter the expense information and select Save or Save Toggle.

Use Assumptions → Major Expenses to manage the spending list. Use Planning Inputs when reviewing the expense beside other scenario toggles.

After either workflow, review the affected years in Details. If the saved expense and displayed rows cannot be reconciled, contact Planworth Support with the scenario, expense, years, and matching rows.
