Understanding Client Mode and client-created scenarios

Understand what clients can edit in Client Mode and why advisor-created scenarios remain locked.

Client Mode (Client Scenario/Edit) allows a client to create and edit their own scenarios in the portal without changing advisor-created scenarios.

What the client can change

With Client Mode, a client can create a client-side scenario and use its available controls to explore alternatives. They can save changes to scenarios they created.

Advisor-created scenarios remain locked from client editing. The advisor decides which of those scenarios the client can see.

Client Mode and dashboard access

Client Mode is separate from:

  • Basic Financial Dashboard (Goals Only)

  • Full Financial Dashboard (Goals/Charts Only)

Those grants provide the viewing experience named in the access option. They do not automatically provide client-side scenario editing.

Before granting Client Mode

Use Client Mode only when the client should be able to explore client-created scenarios. Review the scenario access and other services granted to the client.

Configure the client's available portal services before relying on Client Mode access.

A client-created scenario is exploratory until the advisor reviews the relevant information and planning choices.
