Model the freeze in its own scenario so the current plan stays unchanged. These steps show where the controls are. They do not decide whether a freeze is appropriate or what the share values should be.
Clone the scenario
Open the client's Financial Insights and confirm Current Scenario.
Under Scenarios, select Clone.
Rename the copy. Estate Freeze Scenario is a clear name.
Add the family trust
Select Add Toggle.
Set Category to What If and Toggle Type to New Family Trust, then select Create.
Enter the trust Name and the Deed Date of Family Trust.
Set Residency and Province.
Add the trustees and beneficiaries.
Select Submit.
After the trust is saved, its charts appear in the chart list at the upper right, under Family Trust.
Enter the freeze
Select Add Toggle.
Set Category to Corporate and Toggle Type to Estate Freeze/Reorganization.
Set the Year and choose the Corporation.
Review the Existing Shares listed.
Under New Shares, select Add Common Shares and assign them to the new family trust.
Select Add Preferred Shares for the existing common shareholders, including the redemption value and number of shares. Use the values from the client's valuation and legal documents.
Select Submit.
Compare the scenarios
With the freeze scenario as Current Scenario, set the original scenario as Scenario For Comparison.
In the chart list, select Scenarios.
Open the Scenarios - Estate Worth tab to compare the two scenarios year by year.
Share structure, valuation, the capital gains exemption, and the tax or estate result stay with the advisor and the client's other professionals.
