Planworth models each client at the entity level — individuals, corporations, and trusts each carry cash flow, assets, and liabilities that roll into the household plan. Within a Financial Insights scenario, different controls serve different purposes.
The scenario data model
From the client profile upward:
Layer | What it is | Typical use |
Advisor Settings | Workspace baseline defaults | Starting defaults before client-specific work |
Evaluation | Saved client facts and records | Current balances, policies, property, and family structure |
Assumptions | Scenario-specific plan frame | Dates, spending method, returns, Excess / Deficiency, and other saved scenario inputs |
Sliders | Quick dashboard adjustments | Explore retirement age, spending goals, or risk profile in the open scenario |
Toggles | Named "what-if" items | Model a specific change for selected years |
Assumptions customize the scenario frame. Sliders provide shortcuts for adjusting the open scenario. Toggles introduce tailored planning items saved on that scenario.
Assumptions set the baseline
Use Assumptions for the scenario's saved baseline inputs, such as available dates, spending, returns, and Excess / Deficiency settings. Review the selected scenario before changing a value.
Quick sliders explore a change
Use a quick slider when Planworth displays one to explore a visible change in the open scenario. Note the original value, change one slider at a time, and compare the same result before and after.
Toggles model an item or strategy
Use Planning Inputs → Add Toggle / Strategy → New Toggle to enable or disable a named modelled item or strategy. Save the toggle, confirm its state, and review Summary → Toggle Review and the relevant years in Details.
Evaluation-linked toggles may show Auto-Generated. Planworth may prevent deletion of those toggles; follow the message shown.
When controls overlap
There is no single order that applies to every control. Advisor Settings and client information provide starting values when a new scenario is created. Some Evaluation records remain linked to Auto-Generated toggles. A toggle that is on can replace the matching scenario assumption for the years it covers.
If two controls appear to conflict, confirm the selected scenario, toggle status, setting, and year. If the result remains unexplained, record those details and contact Planworth Support. Choosing assumptions or strategies for a client remains an advisor decision.
