Toggle dictionary: navigating categories and finding the right toggle

Navigate Planworth toggle categories, search the current list, and choose the right starting category.

Planworth groups toggles by planning purpose. Use the current toggle picker and search rather than relying on a fixed list: available controls can depend on the client's information and planning access.

Open the toggle picker

  1. Open a scenario in Financial Insights.

  2. Open Planning Inputs.

  3. Select Add Toggle / Strategy, then New Toggle.

  4. Choose a category or use Search toggles....

The seven categories

  • Savings/Investments — contribution, transfer, registered-account, and investment controls

  • Income/Expenses — income, spending, borrowing, and payment controls

  • Sale/Purchase of Assets — purchases, sales, and related asset changes

  • Tax/Misc. — tax-related and other planning inputs

  • Corporate — corporation-specific controls when the client and access support them

  • Family Trust — trust-specific controls when the client and access support them

  • What If — stress-test controls such as a market event or changed condition

The examples describe the category's purpose. They are not a complete inventory or a promise that every control appears for every client.

Representative controls

Examples you can search for include:

  • Savings/Investments: Maximize TFSA, TFSA Saving, Transfer of Funds, Risk Profile, Excess RIF Withdrawal, RESP Saving, Do Not Deposit, Excess/Deficiency Order Override, and visible conversion-age controls

  • Income/Expenses: Major Expense, Additional Salary or Bonus, New HELOC, Additional Mortgage Payment, Reduce Spending Goal, and CPP/OAS Collection

  • Sale/Purchase of Assets: Sale of Personal Real Estate, Purchase Real Estate, Sell Misc. Asset, and New Term Life

  • Tax/Misc.: visible controls related to pension income splitting, deductions, pension adjustments, or a change of province

  • What If: Premature Death, Market Crash, Assumed Debt Interest Rate, New Corporation, Spending Goal Inflation, and Do Not Sell Asset

These examples help with search; they do not define calculations, eligibility, availability, or expected results. Some tax-sensitive controls can appear in another category, including registered-account conversion controls under Savings/Investments.

Find the right starting point

Start with the planning action:

  • moving or contributing money: Savings/Investments

  • changing income, expenses, or borrowing: Income/Expenses

  • buying or selling an asset: Sale/Purchase of Assets

  • adding a tax-related input: Tax/Misc.

  • changing a corporation or trust: Corporate or Family Trust

  • testing a stress condition: What If

Open a candidate toggle and read its visible fields before saving. After saving, confirm the selected scenario and active state in Summary → Toggle Review, then compare the relevant years and rows in Details with the toggle off and on without changing another input.
