If the "Generate PDF Report" button in the Report Wizard appears gray (disabled/inactive), it typically means the Retirement Goal is still loading or cannot be generated due to missing information in the plan.

To test if the Retirement Goal is the cause, add the Retirement Goal page and it will state "Loading...". You will see a situation similar to the screenshot below:

Possible reasons could include:

1. Complex File (Corporations, Large Values, etc.) - Loading Takes Longer than Usual

Your file might just have a longer-running Retirement Goal because of the corporations and higher value of the accounts associated in the plan. With Tax Optimization also ON, this might take the Retirement Goal longer to run as well. Extreme cases can involve a 30-45 second loading timing so stay on the General PDF Report page and see if the button activates. These types of files will also take a while to load in the Financial Insights engine:

2. Lack of Retirement Age

Another common reason is that a retirement age has not been entered for the client or their spouse. The system requires a retirement age to run the Retirement Goal; without it, the goal cannot load, and the Generate PDF Report button remains gray (disabled/inactive).

Check that all clients (including spouses) have a retirement age entered in the Income/Salary section of the Evaluation (e.g., age 62 and 63). If the retirement age is missing or incomplete, it may be trying to generate a Retirement Goal but unable to due to the lack of retirement age.

3. Lack of Career Status

If a client or spouse do not have a valid "Career Status" (in the Evaluation - under Preliminary), that may also cause an invalid Retirement Goal run. If a particular user's income is not relevant to the plan - then they should have a Career Status of "Retired" instead of it being blank/unanswered.

Once these steps are reviewed and the Retirement Goal has entirely finished loading, the "Generate PDF Report" button should become active to Print/Save as PDF.
